Dundalk Cricket Awarded Sports Capital Grant Funding

The Minister for Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media, Catherine Martin TD, and the Minister of State for Sport, Physical Education and the Gaeltacht, Thomas Byrne TD, last Wednesday announced 1,996 grants with a total value of €230m under phase 2 of Community Sport Facilities Fund (formerly Sports Capital and Equipment Programme) for new and improved sports facilities and equipment throughout the country under the Community Sport Facilities Fund, formerly the Sports Capital and Equipment Programme.


The €230m allocation, which includes €6,771,748 for Louth, follows May’s allocation of €26m for sports equipment which brings the total investment in community sport and recreation in 2024 to €256m. Over 40 separate sports, as well as multi-sport facilities throughout the country, will benefit from the community sport grants.

Dundalk Cricket Club is one of the recepients of this award and has been allocated with €52,073 in funding. This will be crucial in helping the club improve their facilities. The club plans to use these funds to renew their main playing competitive wicket, Upgrade their exising Cricket Nets facility, build a storage shed, purchase a new lawnmower and additional equipment.

The club plans to have these completed before the start of the 2025 Season.
